WHAT ARE COOKIES

Cookies are data that can be sent from a website to the user's device. Typically, this data is stored on the browser used for navigation. The website that transmitted the data can subsequently read and record the cookies installed on the device to obtain various types of information, depending on the type of cookie used.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COOKIES

Cookies are mainly divided into two categories: technical cookies and profiling cookies.

Technical cookies are generally necessary to enable navigation and the proper functioning of the site. Without these cookies, the user may experience technical problems when using the site. For these reasons, these cookies can be used without the user's prior consent, as they are necessary.

Technical cookies are further divided into: navigation cookies (which ensure proper use of the website), functionality cookies (which allow the user to have a better browsing experience based on selectable criteria such as language), and analytics cookies (which allow statistical analysis of the number of users and, in general, site usage).

Profiling cookies, on the other hand, are generally used to memorize the user's choices during browsing and allow the delivery of ad hoc content (usually advertising), i.e., tailored to the user's previous choices.

There is a further subdivision between first-party cookies (sent directly from the site and managed by the data controller) and third-party cookies (sent from third-party sites, external to the one being browsed).
